Contradictory proceedings of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic regarding the decree

On Monday, June 2, a dispute procedure regarding the upcoming decree on access to new medicines was held at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. Thanks to solidarity on the topic of "medicine policy", we in the sector managed to collect more than 18,000 signatures for a collective comment and became a strong voice of patients in the dispute procedure.

We united 40 organizations against the NGO Act

In the campaign against the adoption of the draft law on non-governmental non-profit organizations, we brought together approximately 40 helping organizations that decided to respond together on a topic that directly affects them. Through joint non-governmental intervention, the law on NGOs underwent changes and the section on “lobbying” was not applied.

We initiated and completed a systemic change in the financing of hospice care

We have long pointed out that the amount of reimbursement for inpatient services in hospices did not cover the real costs of care - neither personnel nor operational. Thanks to the joint efforts of experts, organizations and practitioners, we managed to open a dialogue that led to an increase in this reimbursement from 100 to 230 euros per inpatient day.

We actively opposed the introduction of the so-called transaction tax for NGOs

Thanks to joint intervention and advocacy, a public debate was opened on the impact of this measure on the services that many people need on a daily basis. The transaction tax does not apply to non-governmental organizations. 

We supported the allocation of 2% of the tax for NGOs

In 2024, we participated in communicating and coordinating efforts to maintain the 2% allocation mechanism as a stable and fair source of support across the entire sector.
